PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTS
|
We use dance as a learning tool to develop an experiential,
standards based course to fit the needs of your faculty. PD sessions focus on how dance engages and supports all students
in learning, based on multiple intelligence theory. We organize material in a cognitively sequential and physically developmental
framework so teachers can easily repeat lessons in their classrooms. All PD workshops include reflection and guidelines for
assessment. Professional Developments are 90 minutes. Ongoing weekly classes (PD workshops)
for Yoga or Dance are one hour. THE ARTS BLOCK GRANT MAY BE USED TO CREATE YOUR OWN PD OR FOR:
I. Yoga for the Classroom PD series: 16 After school Staff Yoga
classes! II. In-depth MUVment Study in Creative
Dance or Yoga for 2 interested teachers per school (who join teachers from other LAUSD schools) includes all below:
A. Creative Dance for Teachers (meets one evening/week for 6 weeks
from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.) EXPLORE how improvisation and choreography assist our own learning process as adults. This class will
be playful, fun, and healing, while stimulating imagination and mind, body, and community connections. B. Weekend Retreat in Creative Dance and Yoga ESCAPE to a center in the beautiful
hills of Sierra Madre for a weekend of stress-release and fun together! See how 2 days of creative process and movement change
your thinking and feeling! C. Mentoring/Action Research
